Scope

Fit out of 15 floors including B1, B2 and BM.

Description

Works included the removal of concrete to 80no new build riser for the installation of ductwork and services and the subsequent compound firestopping works or GRP grating installation. Forming new BWIC holes within the basement for new service runs, diamond drilling around live services working at heights of up to 6m.

Across the upper floors, we installed new trimming steels and grp grating to 123 electrical risers.  Including the design of steel connections and loadings and cutting the grp for new service runs ensuring that the riser was safe with handrails for other trades to work in and around at all times.

New MER rooms were formed where LDD installed raised access platforms designed, fabricated and installed out of mesh grating and channels.  All to a galvanized finish with key clamp handrails.  All core penetrations within the MER rooms and low level voids were firestopped.  Our team of installers were on site whilst the air tests were completed to enable the hand over on time so as not to delay the programme.

General BWIC holes were diamond drilled and then firestopped once services installed.  Co- ordination between trades was paramount so holes were drilled on time for the service install and so could then be firestopped immediately afterwards to allow ceiling closure.

Our team – consisting of Alex Garnham (project manager), & Marin Toscov (site manager) – produced weekly progress reports issued to the client to aid with the co-ordination process.  Within our reports we had a detailed 2 week look ahead section so that mechanical and electrical trades had continuity of work that enabled floors to be handed over on time and snag free.

Together with LDDS own steelwork subcontractor on the project this enabled us to spot issues early through surveys etc and alert the client to ensure swift resolution without affecting the programme.

Our steelwork contractor who was made aware of the tight deadlines on the project and brought into our philosophy from day 1 to enable a smooth running and successful project.

Alongside this we implemented daily task briefings for all operatives both internal and sub contract to allow continuity of works, good health and safety practice, and to continually review good practice across all 15 floors.
