Strip Out

Client

Overbury PLC

LDD’s package involved the complete strip out of the 8th Floor and a section of the 9th. All terminations were contained in our package, including fire alarms, electrical and mechanical services.
During the Directors pre-start meeting, the project brief as given by David Bramma (Head of Real Estate, Major project Group, London—Shell International) was “a single cut finger on this project means that we have failed”. Given that our works are considered high risk in terms of Health & Safety, we delivered our package on-time and incident/accident free.
Key factors included logistical issues, ensuring zero disruption to active office areas and ensuring we met the standards required to obtain LEED gold standard. We worked alongside Overbury to comply with Canary Wharf Management, including ensuring permits were approved for each activity and correct procedures were under- stood and followed.
The nature of our works meant that vast quantities of waste material were produced. Where possible, materials were reused on other Oplc projects (eg. Ceiling tiles were reused at BarCap, 10 South Colonnade), otherwise they were strictly segregated on each floor and removed to waiting skips containers at times agreed with Oplc and Canary Wharf management.
Of all material not reused elsewhere, we were able to achieve a rate of 95% diversion from landfill.
